Once upon a time there were two sisters…..
They were so excited to spend the night together in their room for the first time when the youngest was almost 5 months old. Their mom was excited about this as well, because she had been sharing her room with a baby for a long time.
The girls watched a movie with their biggest sister, took baths and got on their pajamas. They ate their bedtime snack and got settled into their beds. In no time they were asleep and everyone in the house was so happy, especially their mom.
Little did the rest of the family know, these two little babies were secretly devising a plan to keep their mother up all night. They decided that they would take turns crying so their mom would have to remove them from the bedroom while the other pretended to sleep and they would get to play for a little while longer. They also wanted to see what would happen to their mom if she didn’t get to sleep for the whole night.
It worked, and they each were able to get out of bed 2 times before ten at night! However, the older of the two sisters began to get tired and sadly told her younger sister that she wouldn’t be able to play the game anymore because she was going to fall asleep. The younger sister assured her older sister that she would be able to keep the game going so that her sister could sleep. She was determined to impress her older sister by not giving in and actually going to bed.
At 11, she cried as loud as she could and as her mom got up to get her she smiled. She ate and played and then her mom brought her back to her bed. Then at 130, she did the same thing and was brought back to her bed an hour later. Then at 4 she did it one more time, but this time it was going to be different. She thought, how much fun would it be if I just never went back to sleep? So after she ate, she decided to begin playing as loudly as possible to see what would happen. Her mom came back in to get her so that she didn’t wake her sister and she laid her down in her own bed. The younger sister continued to play and even decided to poke her mom in the eye when she started to fall back asleep! Her mom brought her back to her crib and she continued to play and cry until her mom came back again! There was no way she was going to give in, so she began playing in her mom’s bed again and then she was brought back to her crib. This time she began to get tired, she thought that she could maybe go back to sleep. After all it was 630, and she had done a great job at keeping Mom awake….plus her sister had been asleep for a long time…she closed her eyes and then…
5 minutes later her older sister woke up! The younger sister was so excited to tell her all about the night that she decided not to go to sleep after all and they began talking to each other until their mom came and to their surprise got them both out of their cribs and took them downstairs to play!
Then their biggest sister got up and they all got to eat breakfast together. They said goodbye to their biggest sister as she went off to school and then at 9 in the morning, they both agreed that now that their mom would have to stay awake to clean the house, it was a good time for them to go to sleep….
Yea – this was my night last night. I don’t actually know what was going on in their bedroom, but Scarlet decided that last night was not a great night for sleeping. I am hoping that their morning nap will be longer because of it. My house today looks as if I actually tried to see how messy it could get before I actually had to pick it up ….
If your friends with me on Facebook, you know that we had been battling some nasty virus earlier this week. The good news is that everyone seems to be feeling a lot better! I have decided that we are not getting sick again this year (or ever for that matter), so this is the last time that we will have to be dealing with this sick craziness . Thank you to everyone who prayed for our family the past few days, we really appreciate it!
I am looking forward to Thanksgiving in a few days. Ours will stretch out over two days, as we will be having some family over to our house on Wednesday night, and then we will be getting together with some more family on Thursday as well! It is humbling to take the time to really think about all of the things that we have in our lives to be thankful for. The Lord has provided so much for me my whole life, but I have really seen Him move through my little family the past two years and I am overwhelmed with gratitude when I think about it. I encourage you to really take some time out this week to truly thank God for all that He has done and is doing for you and your family!
I will be posting pics from our dinner here on Wednesday, along with some of the yummy vegan recipes that we will be trying out. I will post reviews from everyone who tries them as well! I am really excited for all the cooking that I will be doing …hopefully the kids cooperate and let me get it done.
Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
In that wonderful day you will sing:
“Thank the Lord! Praise his name!
Tell the nations what he has done.
Let them know how mighty he is!”
